Although CSIRO’s Data61 often publish breakthrough research and win best paper awards at academic conferences, nothing beats being recognised by practitioners. The world-leading practitioner magazine IEEE Software has awarded us its 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 for 2024 – a clear sign that the approach we’ve taken resonates with practitioners and is already being used in the field.


As foundation models and generative AI are built into everything, the most important safeguard is at the system level – controls and design approaches you can tailor to your own use case and risk appetite. Relying solely on AI model/platform providers to “improve” their black boxes is not enough. System-level protections, under your control, are the most effective way to manage AI risks and improve AI performance for your specific context.
