CAIN/AI Engineering 2024

What an incredible first one and a half days at hashtag#ICSE2024 in Lisbon! We CSIRO’s Data61 kicked off our time at the co-located CAIN (AI Engineering conference) by presenting three papers: Qinghua Lu unveiled the taxonomy work for foundation model-based systems (https://lnkd.in/gf6dm8_m), and Boming Xia handled double duties with his presentations on metrics for responsible AIs, focusing on accountability (https://lnkd.in/gSG5nr7S), and copyright challenges across the AI lifecycle (https://lnkd.in/gZEEBiJp). I also had the pleasure of joining a panel to reflect on the impact of the speed of AI innovation on software engineering and responsible AI.

Though we didn’t secure the ACM Distinguished Paper Award as a finalist, we celebrated a surprising win with Boming Xia receiving the Ivica Crnkovic Early Career Award—a remarkable achievement for a PhD student competing against many early career researchers! Well deserved and well done, Boming!
